Terms of Service
Last updated: July 29, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Harang Calendar and Harang Contacts (the "Plugins"), open-source software for Obsidian published by search5 ("we", "us"). By installing or using either Plugin, you agree to these Terms.
What the Plugins do
The Plugins run locally inside Obsidian and let you connect a CalDAV server, a CardDAV server, or your Google account, and reference the resulting calendar events or contacts inline in your notes. They are currently read-only viewers; two-way sync is planned for a future release. Full details of how data is accessed and stored are in the Privacy Policy.
Open-source license
Both Plugins are distributed under the BSD 3-Clause License. The license text and full source code are published in each repository: harang-calendar and harang-contacts. Where the BSD 3-Clause License and these Terms overlap on matters of warranty and liability, the terms below apply to your use of the hosted services these Plugins connect to (e.g. Google's APIs); the license governs your rights to the source code itself.
Your responsibilities
- You must have the right to access any CalDAV/CardDAV server or Google account you connect through the Plugins.
- You are responsible for keeping your own device, Obsidian vault, and account credentials secure.
- You are responsible for complying with the terms of any third-party service you connect (your CalDAV/CardDAV provider, or Google's own Terms of Service).
Third-party services
The Plugins connect to servers we do not operate or control — your CalDAV/CardDAV server, or Google's APIs. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or behavior of those services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
"As is", no warranty
The Plugins are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law, consistent with the BSD 3-Clause License under which they are distributed. We do not guarantee the Plugins will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Plugins, including data loss or disruption to your Obsidian vault.
Changes
We may update these Terms or the Plugins from time to time. Material changes to these Terms will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
Termination
You may stop using either Plugin at any time by disconnecting your accounts and/or uninstalling it from Obsidian.
